Very few politicians have ever so bluntly stated that our foreign policy is flawed and will cause more harm then good. At a presidential debate he went as far to point out that not everyone in the Middle East welcomes us and we should consider the golden rule of not invading other countries since we would not wish to be invaded despite the fact that some people in the crowd disagreed with him. These things all show true moral character and principal no matter what.

Long story short is this will make it so the USDA will have zero ability to stop Monsanto from further planting a GMO crop even if it is under review for being unsafe for the environment and humans. Federal courts are basically powerless to do or say anything. Protection Act is right since it protects big business interest easily. Keep in mind that a majority of studies on GMO are done by Monsanto themselves with very little independent studies done.

The government often just takes them at their word if you look into it. But to add insult to injury now even if there is proof that such plants can be dangerous Monsanto can plant as much as they want while a full review is done which can take a very, very long time. It’s all pretty sad since multiple independent reviews outside of the US have often shown GMO to be anything but safe. In fact GMO is so despised in some countries that Hungary just recently destroyed a large amount of GMO crops. Both Hungary and Peru have outright banned such crops for a very long time. To anyone who reads this kind of page I’m sure you can guess just how bad this stuff is. Best thing I can suggest is to talk to your friends, family and strangers. Make them aware of what is going on and get involved. It seems like the government will let Monsanto do almost anything they want so it will be up to regular people to cause change to happen.

Instead they will often just take Monsanto at their word.

Even cables leaked from Wikileaks revealed that Monsanto was calling on the US to help put pressure to some countries to accept genetically mortified items. Monsanto being banned is no myth but very real. There are at least twenty counties in the world which have gone all the way and simply outright banned all GMO products from being imported in. This includes many first world countries including places such as Switzerland, Italy, France along with other places such as Egypt and Peru. So this isn’t some small or isolated incident either. The list of crimes against humanity that Monsanto has committed is likely to long to go over.

But one simple thing is talking about what started in India a few years back. I’ll put a link to a full article at the bottom. Long story short Monsanto came into India and bribed the government to bully farmers into purchasing GMO sees which they promised would be much hardier and better then regular cotton seeds even though the GMO seeds were 1,000 times more expensive. Come to find out these seeds were worse then regular ones with local pests killing of cotton crops, the crops needing twice as much water increasing costs and the fact that farmers were not told that they would have to buy new seeds every year.

Which is a big blow to farmer who are used to saving and using seeds year after year. The results was a country which had over 125,000 farmers saw where over 1,000 farmers a month began to commit suicide due to despair over the high debt they racked up and no way to pay it off. This is a very true story and even today people are still struggling. So next time you’re thinking about how great those GMO crops are ask the farmers in India.

People can say what they want. But I would like to know how many politicians you can sight who have that kind of honesty. At least we can say that other people in Congress know how it feels to struggle like the average American, right?
